Gallery Assistant

CONTRACT Casual Worker (Flexible hours)
REPORTS TO: Front of House Manager  

Overall purpose of the role:

Gallery Assistants are responsible for proactively providing exceptional client service to internal & external clients throughout all galleries across London, whilst adhering to Christie’s Client Service Standards. To be a visible, engaging and friendly presence to ensure clients’ queries are answered promptly and efficiently.  Gallery Assistants may also be required to support the Client Services Department with client facing and remote Client Services responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
(Duties include but are not limited to the following)
• Cover a range of client facing duties to deliver a proactive and exceptional service to all clients visiting Christie’s
• Present a visible, engaging and friendly presence and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for working with people
• Proactively offer information about forthcoming lots, sales and views to clients in the galleries and at Front of House
• Exceptional teamwork, working with the Gallery Assistant group and Client Service department to achieve our objective of providing the best possible client experience 
• Respond to general questions regarding the auction process including, but not limited to, auction estimates, condition reports, sale results, Christie', Christie's LIVE, bidding and registration
• To locate sale property when allocated to a viewing space in order to direct clients effectively 
• To ensure all items on view are safe, secure and accounted for at all times
• To ensure the salerooms are always at the highest standard of cleanliness; be responsible for keeping the saleroom tidy and clean whilst open to the public
• To be aware of security and health and safety guidelines whilst on Christie’s premises
• Provide in person support to the Client Services Department at the Front Desk, bidder registration, telephone bidding, Christie’s LIVE clerking, and Evening Sales
• Provide remote support to the Client Services Department with tasks including but not limited to email and auction estimates request
• Capture relevant client feedback and share it with Client Service Management
• Other duties as assigned by Front of House Manager

Skills/Competencies Required:
• BA/BS or comparable working experience in client service preferred
• Ability to reflect the image and standards of Christie’s in all situations in accordance with Client Service Standards
• Excellent communication & team playing skills
• Willingness to accept assignments with positive attitude
• Confident demeanour & excellent personal presentation
• Commitment to punctual attendance and excellent time keeping 
• Flexible working hours, including evening and weekend view / sale coverage
• Excellent general IT skills and ability to learn all Christie’s systems 
• Fluency in at least one European language
